Program Manager

Employed as a Programme Manager to work exclusively on a high-profile programme delivering Accedian’s flagship product, Skylight Analytics, to a large London based Telecoms company. This was a £10 million contract and key to Accedian’s strategic direction. Brought into a program with a very basic structure in place. Initially performed a Program audit and put processes and methodologies into place to ensure we hit the first contractual milestone to meet customer expectations and to release the first payment from the customer to Accedian. I quickly identified and mitigated risks and issues which may have put phases of delivery or payment at risk. I also developed a detailed three-phase / two-year plan, combining a mixture of agile and waterfall models to meet the customers requirements.

Senior Programme and Project Manager

I started as a Junior Project Manager but was rapidly promoted to a Senior Project Manager, then Senior Programme Manager. The last position in my time at BT was as a Senior Unit Manager for Network Operations. I was responsible for leading a team of 8 direct reports and 130 shift team members, who were responsible for the service availability, network surveillance, restoration, repair and maintenance of BT’s network and critical supporting infrastructure – upon which all customer service depends. The Network Operations Centre maintains most of BT’s network, underpinning more than £20 billion worth of revenue per annum for BT Group. The remaining 18 years I worked as a Senior Programme and Project Manager on a variety of technically complex projects, including hardware, software, network, and infrastructure deliveries. Accountable for project completion from concept through to delivery, working on both waterfall and agile project life cycles, leading both matrix and virtual teams. Responsible for change management throughout the lifecycle as dictated by competing demands, priorities and changes in scope; planning activities and milestones; allocating resources; monitoring progress against plans; forecasting progress; re-planning and re-scheduling as appropriate; building and motivating teams; co-ordinating work across different groups of people and teams; managing risks and issues; quality planning; project reviews; decision gates; and focusing on critical success factors, KPI’s and other metrics.
